Coffee with Rienk

Coffee with Rienk

At Hencon, we enjoy having a cup of coffee together. In “Coffee with…”, we talk to a different colleague each time. This time, it’s Rienk Mateman’s turn.

What exactly do you do at Hencon?
Rienk replies enthusiastically: ‘I am the after-sales manager and provide process-driven management for purchasing, parts sales and service. I am also the project manager for the implementation of our new ERP system.’

What attracted you to this position and what makes working at Hencon enjoyable for you?
“I have a technical background and a broad interest in vehicles in general. When I was looking for a new employer in September 2020, a recruiter recommended Hencon Forestry to me. That appealed to me. Of course, I had a lot to learn about forestry machines at first, but with my experience in technology, after-sales and warehouse management, I immediately felt at home. What I like so much about working at Hencon Forestry is that we have a relatively small team with a hands-on mentality.”

What was your first impression of the company and how is it now?
Rienk stirs his coffee thoughtfully: ‘My first impression was mainly pleasant and familiar. On my first day at work, I ran into a neighbour from my childhood and other acquaintances in the canteen. All people from the local area. That accessibility and friendly atmosphere is still there.’

How do you see your future at Hencon and do you have enough challenges?
‘I see a bright future. Our organisation is growing and that presents plenty of challenges. I want to be a manager with an open mindset and a helicopter view who motivates colleagues to get the best out of themselves. I also see it as a challenge for myself to continue to monitor and manage processes in a growing organisation.’

Finally, how is the coffee?
Laughing: ‘It depends on which coffee you prefer! We have two types, and I drink both, with a little sugar and milk.’
