Coffee with Arjen
Coffee with Arjen
At Hencon, we like to have a cup of coffee together. In ‘Coffee with…’ we talk to a different colleague each time. This time it is Arjen Winters’ turn. Arjen has enjoyed working at Hencon Forestry for 12 years.
How did you end up at Hencon?
‘At the time, I was allowed to do my graduation project at Hencon and when I finished my training, I was asked if I wanted to stay on under the motto: there is plenty of work and see what suits you. That is, of course, a fantastic starting point. I really did everything from participating in trade fairs to working in the workshop. This way, I not only got to know the company very well, but I also learned which position suited me best.’
Which position ended up being that?
It worked out well because I am right at home as workshop manager. This basically means I am the liaison between our customers and our mechanics. If a customer has a problem or wants to know something, he contacts me and I make sure that, for example, a repair or maintenance on a machine is scheduled. Here, I find it very important to keep everything on track, for our customers but also for our mechanics. We have a nice club of technicians here who work together in a nice way and we are careful about that.’
What attracted you to this position?
‘Initially, I actually just rolled into it but I especially like the variety and the interaction with people. It is dynamic and busy but I get all the freedom and confidence to perform my role in my own way.’
How do you see your future at Hencon?
Arjen thinks for a moment. ‘As long as I go to work whistling every day, I’m more than happy. Should that diminish at some point, it will be time to think about the future. There are so many possibilities and opportunities at Hencon, I’m confident that things will work out.’
Finally, how is the coffee?
‘Do you want an honest answer? I used to drink my coffee with sugar and milk but that’s really not doable! That’s why I drink it black now.’
