Coffee with Daan
At Hencon, we like to have a cup of coffee together. In ‘Coffee with…’, we talk to a different colleague each time. This time, it is the turn of our trainee Daan van Osch. Daan is studying Groen, Grond and Infra (Green, Soil and Infra) at Zone.college in Doetinchem (Netherlands).
When did you start your internship?
‘I started my internship at Hencon Forestry in September last year. This is my fourth internship. In my training, a lot of attention is paid to gaining practical experience. I also really like that because this way you discover what suits you best.’
How did you end up at Hencon Forestry?
Daan laughs: ‘That’s actually not that difficult, I don’t have a driving licence yet and therefore have to find companies I can go to by bike. Hencon seemed like a nice company and then I sent a message. As I hadn’t received a response after three days, I went there and then it was quickly arranged.’
How do you like your internship so far?
Daan responds enthusiastically: ‘I really enjoy it and I’m learning a lot. You really get to tinker here. If something is broken then it has to be repaired. It’s different every time. I also did an internship with a bicycle mechanic but that is not comparable. There, things are replaced when they break. Not here, at Hencon it’s purely about technology.’
What makes working at Hencon fun for you?
‘The working atmosphere! It’s very nice and friendly. Even as a trainee, you know everyone. If you have any questions, there is always someone who can help you. At other companies my internship was a bit more framed but at Hencon I get much more space to try out all sorts of things, which I really like!’
When will you finish your internship at Hencon?
‘I’m here until 2 April, so I’ll have to look for another internship address soon. I like it here and would like to come back to do holiday work.’
Finally, how is the coffee?
‘The coffee is good.’
