Coffee with Rinie

Coffee with Rinie

At Hencon, we enjoy having a cup of coffee together. In “Coffee with…”, we talk to a different colleague each time. This time it’s Rinie Poelhuis’ turn, our service engineer from the very beginning.

How long have you been in the field?
‘I started as a trainee mechanic in the agricultural sector at the age of 19 and then moved into forestry. I’ve been passionate about technology since I was young – you know how it is, first you tinker with mopeds and then you move on to larger vehicles.’

You’ve been around for a long time. Has much changed in your field?
Rinie thinks for a moment: ‘Quite a lot has changed, but it’s a gradual process and you develop along with it. The knowledge and experience you build up over the years is, of course, considerable. I think it’s important to fully understand a machine: from the engine to the software and everything in between. When there are malfunctions, I always focus on the functional aspects first so that the machine is up and running again as quickly as possible.’

What do you like most about your field?
‘There are two things: I love visiting customers and troubleshooting in the field. I spend about 80% of my time working outdoors in nature. I get the most satisfaction when a machine is repaired and the operator is sitting on it with a big smile on their face.’

What makes working at Hencon enjoyable for you?
Rinie stirs his coffee: ‘The varied work, the accessible organisation and the challenge that comes with every day, because I look for or come up with a solution for every problem. I also love the freedom I have and the contact with customers.’

Finally, how is the coffee?
Rinie laughs: ‘I’d love another cup!’
