Welcome to Hencon Forestry, Gijs!
Meet our new colleague Gijs van Remmen, who joined us two weeks ago as a service engineer. We asked him a few questions to find out what motivated him to come and work for us. We are also curious to hear how he is finding working with us.
What appealed to you most when you decided to apply for a job with us? ‘I knew Hencon Forestry from my internship five years ago. The pleasant atmosphere and open culture always stayed with me, so when I decided to change jobs, Hencon Forestry was at the top of my list.’
What are you looking for in your new job?
‘I just love technology. I love the challenge that these enormous forestry machines present. The job of service engineer at Hencon Forestry is specialised, which is something you don’t find everywhere. I deliberately chose this company because I can still learn a lot here.’
You know Hencon Forestry from your internship five years ago. Has much changed since then?
‘Not really. There are a few new colleagues, but the atmosphere is exactly the same: friendly and pleasant. What immediately struck me when I started two weeks ago is that everything is well organised. I even received a monthly schedule right away! I really like that because it means you know exactly where you stand. Tomorrow, I’m going to Germany with a colleague to work on site. That variety is great fun, of course!’
How do you see your future at Hencon Forestry?
‘Positive! I hope to be able to travel a lot for Hencon in the future to help customers. I really enjoy that variety.’
What advice would you give to young people who are choosing a career?
‘You really have to do what you enjoy because if you can turn your hobby into your job, you’ll enjoy going to work every day!’
